A disease took many elm trees in our area years prior to our moving to the country. Though we didn`t know what we had, it was a bit easier to sacrifice this tree, already half dead, as part of a construction project.
No longer red... but we are told this is just "oxidization", and the colour should return with sanding and a good quality oil.
